October half term is 26 to 30 October 2026. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Monday 4 January 2027. February half term is 8 to 12 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 22 March to 2 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. The summer holidays start on Wednesday 21 July 2027. What is particular about Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire fixes one designated INSET day for all its schools at the start of each year: Tuesday 1 September 2026 and Wednesday 1 September 2027. Each school chooses its other INSET days.

February half term 2027 is 8 to 12 February, a week earlier than in most of England, and the spring term ends on Friday 19 March, a week before Good Friday.

The Easter holidays 2027 run from 22 March to 2 April, a week earlier than in most of England, and the summer term starts on Monday 5 April 2027.

The council notes that the Welsh Government intends to legislate to keep a sixth INSET day on an ongoing basis, subject to a ministerial decision after the 2026 Senedd election.

The calendar is published subject to any changes from government policy decisions, and the council says it accepts no liability for losses from altered holiday arrangements.
