In 2026-27 the autumn term starts on Thursday 3 September 2026, and schools stay closed after Christmas up to and including Monday 4 January 2027.
The council's 2026-27 calendar names Monday 12 April 2027 and Monday 7 June 2027 as teacher training days when schools are closed, so pupils return on the Tuesday after the Easter and May breaks.
The council calls the 2027 Easter break a half-term, from Tuesday 30 March to Friday 9 April 2027, after the Good Friday and Easter Monday bank holidays.
