Cheshire East term dates 2026-27 and 2027-28
Cheshire East Council calendar for 2026-27 and 2027-28: October half term 26 to 30 October 2026, then Christmas holidays from 21 December 2026.
Cheshire East schools go back on Tuesday 1 September 2026 and the 2026-27 school year ends on Wednesday 21 July 2027, according to the calendar published by Cheshire East Council. October half term is 26 to 30 October 2026. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Monday 4 January 2027. February half term is 15 to 19 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 26 March to 9 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. The summer holidays start on Thursday 22 July 2027. That leaves 195 weekdays in school after bank holidays, and each school then takes some of them as its own INSET days. The 2027-28 calendar is already published: school starts on Wednesday 1 September 2027 and the October break is 25 to 29 October 2027. What is particular about Cheshire East
Cheshire East's term dates are for guidance only; some schools set their own dates or agree minor local variations with the council.
Autumn half term is set as the full week before the first Tuesday in November.
The Whitsun half term is one week, unless a primary school's governing board agrees an extra week, in which case its summer term ends one week later.
Governing boards designate all five INSET days, with no more than two days in a row.
Schools are expected to publish their term dates on their website at least two school years in advance.
Each year is published with the number of open days: 74, 54 and 67 days in 2026/2027, and 73, 59 and 63 days in 2027/2028.
The Local Authority is responsible for setting dates for community and controlled schools, which are recommended for adoption by voluntary-aided, foundation, academies and free schools.
In academies and free schools the duty lies with the governing board, or with the trust, depending on their agreements on delegation of responsibilities. Clusters of schools may agree minor local variations with the Local Authority.

In the North West region, Bolton, Cheshire West and Chester, Cumberland, Lancashire, Liverpool, Oldham, Rochdale, Sefton, Stockport, Trafford, Westmorland and Furness and Wirral share the same Easter break, while Manchester, Salford and Wigan use different Easter dates.
