Nottingham term dates 2026-27 and 2027-28
Nottingham City Council calendar for 2026-27 and 2027-28: October half term 19 to 30 October 2026, then Christmas holidays from 21 December 2026.
Nottingham schools go back on Wednesday 2 September 2026 and the 2026-27 school year ends on Wednesday 28 July 2027, according to the calendar published by Nottingham City Council. The October break lasts two full weeks, from 19 to 30 October 2026, twice the usual half term in most of England. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Monday 4 January 2027. February half term is 15 to 19 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 26 March to 9 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. The summer holidays start on Thursday 29 July 2027. That leaves 194 weekdays in school after bank holidays. The 2027-28 calendar is already published: school starts on Thursday 2 September 2027 and the October break is 18 to 29 October 2027. What is particular about Nottingham
Nottingham City Council says it keeps a legal responsibility to set term and holiday dates and aims for stability and consistency across city maintained schools and with academies where possible.
The council recommends an INSET day at the start of each year: Tuesday 1 September 2026 and Wednesday 1 September 2027; the other INSET days are decided by each school.
Nottingham City has a two-week October half term: Monday 19 to Friday 30 October 2026, and Monday 18 to Friday 29 October 2027.
The summer term ends late, on Wednesday 28 July 2027 and Wednesday 26 July 2028.
In 2027-28 the autumn term ends on Tuesday 21 December 2027 and the summer term starts on Tuesday 18 April 2028, the day after Easter Monday.
The council already lists term dates up to 2029-30.

How Nottingham compares
Nottingham keeps the most common English dates for its february half term, easter holidays and may half term.
It moves away from the usual pattern for its october half term (19 to 30 October 2026, where 95 of the 105 English calendars on this site have 26 to 30 October 2026) and summer holidays (29 July to 31 August 2027, where 32 of the 99 English calendars on this site have 22 July to 31 August 2027). A family with children in two areas should check these weeks first.
