Oxfordshire schools go back on Wednesday 2 September 2026 and the 2026-27 school year ends on Wednesday 21 July 2027, according to the calendar published by Oxfordshire County Council. October half term is 26 to 30 October 2026. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Monday 4 January 2027. February half term is 15 to 19 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 26 March to 9 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. The summer holidays start on Thursday 22 July 2027. That leaves 194 weekdays in school after bank holidays. The 2027-28 calendar is already published: school starts on Monday 6 September 2027 and the October break is 25 to 29 October 2027. Oxfordshire names one countywide 'available for work' or INSET day each year: 1 September 2026 and 3 September 2027.

Term dates are set by the council after consultation with schools, neighbouring authorities and groups representing teaching and other staff, among others.
In 2027-28 the autumn term starts late for pupils, on Monday 6 September 2027, after the countywide INSET day on Friday 3 September.
In 2027-28 the spring term runs to 7 April 2028 and the Easter holiday is 10 to 21 April 2028, around Easter Sunday 16 April.
Oxfordshire calls the May break the 'Late Spring half-term'.
