The Easter holidays cover 26 March to 12 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. What is particular about Norfolk
Norfolk term dates are set after consultation with schools, neighbouring authorities and groups representing teaching and other staff; the consultation usually takes place in November and December and dates are agreed in January.
Norfolk takes part in an annual Eastern region meeting of county councils, so its dates are very similar to those of Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, with minor variations caused by different arrangements for staff development days.
The school calendar also sets the days on which school transport will be provided.
The published 2026-27 dates are pupil days: term starts on Thursday 3 September 2026 and the council suggests staff training on 1 and 2 September 2026, 23 October 2026, 4 January 2027 and 12 April 2027.
Some schools may use twilight hours for staff training instead of some or all of the suggested training days.
Because training days are suggested on 4 January and 12 April 2027, pupils return on Tuesday 5 January and Tuesday 13 April 2027.
Norfolk County Council is responsible for setting the term dates for community schools, community special schools, VC schools and nursery schools.
Foundation, VA, Foundation special, free schools and academy trusts are able to set their own dates, but most adopt the Norfolk model. We advise you to check with your child's school before making holiday or other commitments.

How Norfolk compares
Norfolk keeps the most common English dates for its february half term and may half term.
It moves away from the usual pattern for its october half term (23 to 30 October 2026, where 95 of the 105 English calendars on this site have 26 to 30 October 2026) and easter holidays (26 March to 12 April 2027, where 93 of the 105 English calendars on this site have 26 March to 9 April 2027). A family with children in two areas should check these weeks first.
In the East of England region, no other council on this site has the same Easter break, while Bedford, Cambridgeshire, Central Bedfordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire and Luton use different Easter dates.
