Salford City Council calendar for 2026-27 and 2027-28: October half term 26 to 30 October 2026, then Christmas holidays from 21 December 2026.
Salford schools go back on Tuesday 1 September 2026 and the 2026-27 school year ends on Thursday 22 July 2027, according to the calendar published by Salford City Council. October half term is 26 to 30 October 2026. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Monday 4 January 2027. February half term is 15 to 19 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 5 to 16 April 2027, after the Easter weekend. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. The summer holidays start on Friday 23 July 2027. That leaves 195 weekdays in school after bank holidays, and each school then takes some of them as its own INSET days. The 2027-28 calendar is already published: school starts on Monday 6 September 2027 and the October break is 25 to 29 October 2027. What is particular about Salford
Salford's Easter break is always the first two full weeks in April, regardless of where Easter itself falls.
Schools close on Good Friday and Easter Monday even when they fall in term time, as on 26 and 29 March 2027.
Autumn half term is always the last full week in October and spring half term the third full week in February.
All terms start on a Monday, or on a Tuesday when a bank holiday makes it necessary.
Schools choose their five inset days, with no more than two days in a row, and may use twilight sessions instead.
The Salford scheme totals 190 days, the statutory number.
The 2027 to 2028 summer term ends on Wednesday 26 July 2028, later than most neighbouring councils.
The council sets the school term dates for community and voluntary controlled schools.
The governing bodies of academies and voluntary aided schools set their own term dates but are encouraged to follow a similar pattern. Some voluntary-aided, foundation, or academy schools may be slightly different.
