Warwickshire County Council calendar for 2026-27 and 2027-28: October half term 26 to 30 October 2026, then Christmas holidays from 21 December 2026.
Warwickshire schools go back on Wednesday 2 September 2026 and the 2026-27 school year ends on Wednesday 21 July 2027, according to the calendar published by Warwickshire County Council. October half term is 26 to 30 October 2026. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Tuesday 5 January 2027. February half term is 15 to 19 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 26 March to 9 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. The summer holidays start on Thursday 22 July 2027. That leaves 193 weekdays in school after bank holidays. The 2027-28 calendar is already published: school starts on Thursday 2 September 2027 and the October break is 25 to 29 October 2027. What is particular about Warwickshire
Warwickshire sets two of the five teacher training days itself and leaves three to schools: 1 September 2026 and 4 January 2027 in 2026-27, 1 September 2027 and 5 January 2028 in 2027-28.
The council sets its dates on stated parameters: 195 school days, holidays in full weeks where possible, a three-weekend break at Christmas and Easter, a summer holiday close to six weeks and a pattern close to neighbouring councils.
Dates are usually published 18 months before the academic year starts; dates for 2025-26 were published by March 2024.
There is one secondary induction day for all Warwickshire schools: Wednesday 8 July 2026, Wednesday 7 July 2027 and Wednesday 5 July 2028.
Unlike most West Midlands neighbours, Warwickshire starts 2027-28 on Wednesday 1 September 2027 and returns after Christmas on Wednesday 5 January 2028, both teacher training days.
The council publishes a list of closed schools when schools tell it, for example during severe weather.
