City of Doncaster Council calendar for 2026-27: October half term 26 to 30 October 2026, then Christmas holidays from 21 December 2026.
Doncaster schools go back on Tuesday 1 September 2026 and the 2026-27 school year ends on Wednesday 21 July 2027, according to the calendar published by City of Doncaster Council. October half term is 26 to 30 October 2026. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Monday 4 January 2027. February half term is 15 to 19 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 26 March to 9 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. That leaves 195 weekdays in school after bank holidays, and each school then takes some of them as its own INSET days. City of Doncaster Council had not published 2027-28 dates when we last checked. What is particular about Doncaster
Doncaster's holiday pattern covers community primary schools, community special schools and Pupil Referral Units; academies, free schools and church schools set their own dates.
In spring 2026 the council consulted on two draft versions of the 2027-28 calendar, with a closing date of 24 April 2026.
Version 1 of the 2027-28 draft follows a common holiday pattern agreed with the 3 other South Yorkshire councils; Version 2 starts on the first Monday in September and finishes later in the summer term.
For 2026-27 the council lists the May bank holiday as a one-day closure: schools close on Monday 3 May and reopen on Tuesday 4 May 2027.
There are five training days to be arranged by schools each year.
The 2026-27 Easter holiday starts on Good Friday, 26 March 2027, and schools reopen on Monday 12 April 2027.
City of Doncaster Council (CDC) is responsible for determining the holiday pattern for community primary schools, community special schools and Pupil Referral Units within the City.
Academies, Free Schools and Church Schools will set their own dates and are encouraged to set the same or similar dates. For Academies and Church Schools - please check with the School.

On the latest readable copy (24 April 2026) the council was seeking views on two draft 2027-28 school holiday patterns (V1 and V2), closing date 24 April 2026. No determined 2027-28 dates could be read: the live page is blocked (403) and no later archive copy exists.
