October half term is 26 to 30 October 2026. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Monday 4 January 2027. February half term is 15 to 19 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 26 March to 9 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. The summer holidays start on Thursday 22 July 2027. That leaves 195 weekdays in school after bank holidays, and each school then takes some of them as its own INSET days. What is particular about Kirklees
On top of the published calendar, every Kirklees school takes five training days of its own, so training days differ from one school to another.
Schools used as a polling station on election day, Thursday 6 May 2027, can use one of their training days to close the school.
The council also flags Thursday 4 May 2028 as an election day for schools used as polling stations.
The 2026-27 Easter holiday starts on Good Friday, 26 March 2027, and runs to Friday 9 April 2027.
