North Yorkshire Council calendar for 2026-27 and 2027-28: October half term 26 to 30 October 2026, then Christmas holidays from 21 December 2026.
North Yorkshire schools go back on Monday 7 September 2026 and the 2026-27 school year ends on Friday 23 July 2027, according to the calendar published by North Yorkshire Council. October half term is 26 to 30 October 2026. Christmas holidays run from 21 December 2026 to 1 January 2027, with pupils back on Tuesday 5 January 2027. February half term is 8 to 12 February 2027. The Easter holidays cover 22 March to 2 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. May half term is 31 May to 4 June 2027. The summer holidays start on Tuesday 27 July 2027. That leaves 192 weekdays in school after bank holidays. The 2027-28 calendar is already published: school starts on Tuesday 7 September 2027 and the October break is 25 to 29 October 2027. What is particular about North Yorkshire
North Yorkshire publishes dates for community and voluntary controlled schools; academies, voluntary aided and foundation schools set all of their own dates.
The council fixes three professional development training days in its calendar, and schools set a further two training dates of their own.
In 2026-27 the fixed training days are Friday 23 October 2026, Monday 4 January 2027 and Monday 26 July 2027.
The 2026-27 year starts on Monday 7 September 2026 and has an early February half term, 8 to 12 February 2027.
The May half term starts on a Tuesday in both years, after the late May bank holiday (1 June 2027 and 30 May 2028).
In 2027-28 the fixed training days are Monday 6 September 2027, Tuesday 4 January 2028 and Tuesday 25 July 2028.
The council covers areas including Harrogate, Ripon, Scarborough, Whitby, Northallerton, Thirsk, Selby, Tadcaster, Malton, Pickering, Richmond and Skipton.
