Fife Council calendar for 2026-27 and 2027-28: October holiday 12 to 23 October 2026, then Christmas holidays from 23 December 2026.
Fife schools go back on Wednesday 19 August 2026 and the 2026-27 school year ends on Friday 2 July 2027, according to the calendar published by Fife Council. The October break lasts two full weeks, from 12 to 23 October 2026, twice the usual half term in most of England. Christmas holidays run from 23 December 2026 to 5 January 2027, with pupils back on Wednesday 6 January 2027. February mid-term is 11 to 12 February 2027, only 2 days. The Easter holidays cover 26 March to 9 April 2027, taking in Good Friday and Easter Monday. The summer holidays start on Monday 5 July 2027. That leaves 190 weekdays in school once the 5 in-service days fixed by the council are taken out. What is particular about Fife
Fife schools have a two week autumn holiday in October, listed as lasting 12 days (Monday 12 to Friday 23 October 2026).
The council publishes four terms (autumn, winter, spring and summer) rather than three, with the winter term running from the end of the October holiday to Christmas.
The February break is two additional holiday days on a Thursday and Friday, preceded by an in-service day on the Wednesday.
Fife has an additional one day holiday on the first Monday of June (7 June 2027, 5 June 2028) as well as the May Day holiday.
One in-service day falls in November (Friday 13 November 2026 and Friday 12 November 2027).
The Christmas holidays start on 23 December and pupils return on 6 January in both 2026-27 and 2027-28.
